Dear Kids Come First,

I want to start out by simply saying thank you.  I am now 17 years old, although when I first met the Kids Come First staff, I was just barely 16 years old. They provided a safe and friendly environment for me when I was going through a difficult time with family. Something I will remember my entire life!

When we first met, I wasn't as safe online as I should have been. I frequently posted information that could have provided a stalker with everything they needed to find me. The Kids Come First staff taught me how to be safe online as well as how to enjoy being online at the same time. I quite frequently look back on the hours we just spent chatting and how we had so much fun!  I will cherish the memories.

Sincerely your friend,

Trenton, Oregon

Dear Kids Come First;

I am a seventy year old grandmother to nine beautiful grandchildren.  I just got off of a chat line after chatting with my twelve year old granddaughter.  She informed  me of your web site Kids Come First and sent me the link to your site.  I am so very impressed with  your program and how you strive to make our children aware of what evil can lurk behind the monitor of their computers.  Unfortunately many of our young children are latch key kids and spend unsupervised hours on the Internet.  Thank God and bless you for your dedication to helping keep our children informed and safe.

Respectfully,

a Missouri Granny

Dear Kids Come First,

Thank you so much for alerting me of my 6 year old daughters activity online. I am still in shock.  The e-mail address she provided to them to access the site was not even a valid e-mail account so there was no verification process.  Please feel free to use our information and story with all media outlets.  I appreciate all your hard work to keep our children safe.  Most importantly, you could have saved my daughters life!  I can't thank you enough for this wake-up call to my daughters potentionally harmful conversations online.

Saviors

Who is my savior?

My savior isn't just one person.

It's the people that stand by my side,

The one’s who are there for me through thick and thin.

This group has been there for me since I first joined.

I don't know where I would be standing without their support.

They remind me of the trees..

They never stop climbing up and up,

and when we fall back we grab onto a branch for advice.

They are the members and supporters of Kids Come First.

Every single one of them helps; but not just to help children out.

They help because they love to be around kids.

And that is what counts the most.

Kids Come First was on the news in Florida and  when we posted the broadcast in a bulletin on MySpace,  we received the following emails:

From Sheriff Karl Daily:

HEY!! Good Job - Good Story!!!!!

From Avery County’s Sheriff Frye:

Thanks, your program is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to children. I am promoting this locally by media also (i.e. newspapers and radio). Thanks for all you are doing.

From Lt. Rowland:

That’s great! I added the video to our site and the www.dunnpal.org main site.  Keep up the good work!

From a MySpace Friend:

WAY TO GO HON. I LOVE IT. It’s about time something good is said about MySpace and not bad. YOU ARE GREAT. LOVE YA.

Email from a MySpace Friend:

Thank you! That was great news and I'll repost it again later! That’s wonderful! People CAN make a difference!

Email from a MySpace Friend:

Thank you so very much for the very incredible job you are doing here on my space.  We all thank you so very much for all the kids in the world you are trying to keep safe. Keep up the amazing job you are all doing and thanks for being a friend.  Take care!

Our program “Project LE Friends” is a huge success! Below is a comment  left on Avery County Sheriff’s MySpace page:

Thank you for the work that you are doing in this county, and your concern for our children's safety. As a mother of three, it makes me feel so much more secure. People need to pull their heads out of the sand here, we may have a small town, but thanks to the internet "big town" crime is prevalent here.

Hey Sheriff. Thanks for the add. Nice to know you are watching my back. :}

I just wanted to thank you for everything you do! It makes a big difference! This website is a great idea!

This is one of the best things I’ve ever heard of! Makes me feel so much better! Thanks for everything :)

I am a published author and the mother of twin nine year olds who love to play games online. In considering all of that, you would think that I would know more about what is happening online. Maybe I've had my head buried in the sand (or another book) but until a recent event when I was shocked out of my daze, I hadn't really thought much about it or even heard of your organization or Mary Conyers fight to save our kids through "Protect Every Child." Recently while doing an online search of the Clayton area for skateboard parks for my children, I clicked on a likely and innocent seeming link. Suddenly I came face to face (or whatever) with a page full of half naked women doing unmentionable things. I thank heaven my children weren't peeping around my shoulder as they so often are when we are searching for information.
After being shocked out of my sneakers, I immediately began a search on who to report the incident to and after speaking with a very nice and helpful detective, I soon realized how helpless we as the public and parents really are when it comes to protecting our children online.
Just recently I met Mary Conyers online and learned about her organization and yours. Realizing how worthwhile both are, I am determined to do all that I can to assist. I have begun to spend many hours creating special pages and links to you both on several of my websites and to email or bulletin as much information as I can to all of my online friends and readers. I wish you all the very best of luck and know that as a woman and a mother, I am behind you one hundred percent!

Barbara & Gene,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your efforts in keeping children safe.  I have e-mailed your website to everyone on my list asking for their support on the Cyber Safety for Kids Act of 2006 petition.

Blessed be,
